want cheaper rates? If answered “Yes” you have to do everything within your power to uncover as many steps as there are to cheaper rates. I’ve provided enough suggestions to help the greater majority save over 50% on insurance…

1. The Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA) insurance is a good choice for cheap coverage if you have a pre-existing illness that makes regular individual health insurance difficult or too expensive.

Insurance Quote

2. Certain states offer home business owners an opportunity to lower their rate. Those states demand that insurance companies offer home based businesses similar rates with other (larger) businesses.

In several states a home business qualifies for a group rate once it employs a person.

The cheery news is that the employee could be your spouse or grown kid who works with you. Furthermore, you will still qualify if that single employee works only part time.

This will give your reasonable savings since group rates are always less than individual rates.

To know if you are eligible or even if your state has such offer, call your state’s department of insurance, department of financial services or their equivalent.

3. Phone med services will help you lower your rates. A phone med service is on twenty four hours daily and provides free medical advice. You can trust the advice you get because they are manned by qualified professionals (usually a minimum of a registered nurse with at least ten years experience). Your local clinic is as well another place you can get free medical advice by phone.

This, hopefully, should reduce the number of visits you make to a doctor even though it’s not an alternative to doing so.

A timely medical help could be the difference between a serious health condition and a mild one. For these and more reasons, use these free medical services.

4. No-appointment ambulatory care centers or emergi-centers will as well help you bring down your rates. This is particularly so if you’re generally healthy and find it tough to pay for traditional health insurance. They are cheaper than using an emergency room in a hospital.

5. Even though you are warned against self-medication, there are situations where you shouldn’t visit a doctor. Take, for instance, a viral infection like flu. A visit to your doctor will really make no difference in your health if you know what to do. Your doctor will likely do things you should have done on your own at home in a situation like that.

If your doctor can’t do anything about a health condition then I think it’s not advisable to spend about $100 on a visit to him or her. Other examples are minor bruises that just simple first aid will handle properly. If you do not know these simple things take out time to read books on them especially if you have little children. There are several things that you can (and should) handle if you’ve taken the time to learn and also have a well-stocked first aid box.

However, it’s better to err on the side of caution and go to a doctor if you’re not certain. But, please, know your limits and know that there are situations you must take to a doctor even if you know what to do. The law stops you from doing certain things if you’re not a certified medical professional. Just know what you should handle on your own and avoid what you shouldn’t. If you do this right you will pay less for health insurance and still not put yourself at any risk.

6. Using free clinics will help you lower your spend. These will either bring down your co-payments or premium entirely. These are free ways for you to receive professional medical help and have regular check up. Some communities provide such clinics and some may just be part of a group’s community service.

Even though law does not require it, health insurance is coverage everyone should have. Often provided by your employer, health insurance covers you when you fall ill and helps off-set your medical costs. Most health insurance plans involve monthly payments, which are set based on the type of medical coverage you receive and if the coverage is just for you or for your immediate family. Others involve deductibles and co-payments. So, which is which?

Types of Health Insurance

The primary forms of health insurance coverage are Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO), Point-of-Service (POS), Preferred Provider Organizations (PPO), and Indemnity plans. HMO, POS, and PPO are managed care plans. Each type of managed care health plan functions differently and offers medical coverage in diverse ways. The indemnity plan is not considered a managed care plan and is unique in its own way. Here are the differences between the different health plans.

An HMO is a plan where members pay a monthly fee. That fee covers most medical expenses for the month, regardless of how much medical care is needed (if any at all). Often, HMO members are also required to pay a co-payment (also referred to as a co-pay). A co-payment is an amount paid at the time of treatment to offset a portion of the medical costs. The amount of the co-pay varies depending on the specific medical treatment. Medical office visits have a different co-payment rate than prescriptions and more involved medical treatments.

HMOs also have a network of doctors that members can visit for their medical needs. However, they must stay within the HMO network if they want to be covered. Visiting a doctor who is not in the HMO network may result in out-of-pocket expenses.

A PPO is a plan where members pay for medical visits and services on an as-provided basis. Members can only visit doctors within the PPO network and are reimbursed for their medical expenses. Medical expenses and reimbursement amounts are established by the provider and the PPO subsidizer.

A POS is a plan where members pay no deductible. There is, however, normally a small co-payment members must pay when they visit a physician. POS plans require members to select a physician as their primary care physician (PCP). This physician is their primary care giver regarding all health-related issues and must sign off/refer members to other physicians if a specialist is needed. Just like HMOs, members of POS plans must stay within their network of doctors.

An indemnity plan gives plan members more freedom than managed care plans. In an indemnity plan, members can see any doctor they wish. There is no network of physicians involved in an indemnity plan and no restrictions. However, this type of medical plan is significantly more expensive than managed care plans and involves more out-of-pocket expenses.

When it comes to health coverage, you get what you pay for. If you want complete freedom in who you can see for your ailments, expect to pay more than networked managed care plans. However, only you can determine what type of medical plan best fits your health needs. If you need to see health specialists and can’t afford to stay within a network, a managed care plan might not be your best choice. When selecting a health care plan, remember that each plan functions differently from the next. If you have preexisting health conditions, use them to determine what type of health insurance coverage is best for you.

Looking to get a cheap insurance rate? Here are the top 10 money-saving auto insurance tips that will save you a bundle on your auto insurance.

1. Consolidate Your Policies

Placing your homeowners or renters insurance and your auto insurance with the same insurance company can save you 5% to 15% on you insurance premium. Plus, you’ll only have one company to deal with.

2. Increase Your Deductible

The deductible is the amount of money you have to pay toward a claim before your insurance company will pay. By increasing your deductible you’ll lower your insurance premium. Increasing it from $200 to just $500 can save you up to 30% on your auto insurance.

3. Get Safety Discounts

Most insurance companies will give you a discount for having safety features like air bags, anti-lock brakes, and automatic seat belts.

4. Get Security Discounts

You can get a good-sized discount for having a car alarm, anti-theft device, or electronic disabler installed on your car.

5. Get Low Mileage Discounts

Most insurance companies will give you a low mileage discount if you drive your car less than the average driver.

6. Ask About Other Discounts

Insurance companies offer all kinds of discounts – senior discounts, safe driver discounts, driver education discounts, good student discounts, military discounts, and law enforcement discounts. Ask your insurer about all the discounts that are available to you and have them included in your policy.

7. Buy a Low-Profile Car

Cars that cost a lot to repair, like high-end sports cars, and cars that are targeted by thieves, cost a lot more to insure than less expensive late model sedans.

8. Maintain a Good Credit Rating

Believe it or not, your credit rating is now used by some companies to rate your insurance premium. To lower your premium, take a look at your credit rating and see if you can improve it, or choose a credit company that doesn’t use credit ratings to judge insurance risk.

9. Drop Collision and Comprehensive Coverage

Collision coverage pays to repair your car when you’re in an accident, and comprehensive coverage pays for repairs caused by fire, vandalism, and severe weather. If your car is worth less than your premium plus your deductible, it’s probably not worth carrying collision and comprehensive coverage.

10. Compare Rate Quotes

Because insurance rates can vary by hundreds of dollars from one company to another, comparing quotes and choosing the cheapest one is the best way to save money on your auto insurance. Rather than spending hours of your time calling companies on the phone or going to their websites, go to an insurance comparison website where you can get quotes from a number of companies in a matter of minutes.

Auto insurance is a basic amenity for all car holders. We cannot say no to it even if we feel that it is coming as a heavy jolt to our pocket. Given a chance many of us would like to do without it. The big question arises, are we all aware of the fact why we need auto insurance. There are two major risks we are trying to cover in the process. One is the risk of covering the asset and the other is the risk of covering the health of the owner or the driver of the car. The car protects the third party against any personal injury or death related claims.

The coverage covers the insurer against any charges of repair in case of an accident. It covers the asset against theft, vandalism or fire. Therefore we can see for ourselves that it is extremely important to go ahead and take up a policy for the vehicle that we have. When we go shopping for an insurance the following needs to be kept in mind before buy a policy. The customer needs to take up a policy which goes according to the state requirement.

The policy should cover personal injury protection and asset related damage problem in case of accidents. For e.g. if the customer has a $ 10,000 on injury protection and if he goes through a serious problem in which he is supposed to be hospitalized for a longer period of time $ 10,000 will not be enough. The customer would need to rework on his plan keeping this aspect in mind.

The customer should try to get his insurance from the same company from which he has his other insurances. This would help him to get an overall discount on all the policies he has taken from the company. The customer should watch out for the co insurance amount as that is a direct out of pocket expense which the customer needs to bear. The next would be for the customer to look out if he has completed five years with an insurance company. He again can ask the insurance company to bring down his premium amount. The customer should consider the following points before he goes ahead and finalizes an insurance policy for himself.

Life insurance is a policy that you can enter with your insurance company, which promises a certain amount to your beneficiary(ies) in the event of your death. Usually, a spouse will name the other spouse as well as their children as beneficiaries of the policy. As part of the agreement with life insurance, your insurance policy will be a monetary value, that you will in return, pay a monthly premium for. Premiums usually depend on your age, gender, occupation, medical history and other factors.

There are other types of life insurance that may provide benefits for you and for your family while you are still living. These policies can accrue a cash value on a tax-deferred basis and can be used for future needs such as retirement or your child’s education.

Do I Need Life Insurance

Earning an income allows you and your family to do many things. It pays for your mortgage, buys cars, food, clothing, vacations and many other luxuries that you and your family enjoy. However, certain situations can cause you to lose your income, and those who depend on you also depend on your income. If any of the following statements about you and your family are true, then it is probably a good idea for you to consider life insurance.

1) You are married and have a spouse.

2) You have children who are dependent on you.

3) You have a parent or relative who is aging, or disable and depends on you.

4) You have a loved one in your life that you wish to provide for.

5) Your 401K retirement plan, pension and savings aren’t enough to insure your loved one’s future.

What Are My Life Insurance Options

There are four basic types of life insurance that can meet you and your family’s needs:

Term Life Insurance

This is the least expensive type of life insurance coverage, and at least at the beginning, the simplest. Term life insurance policies do not accrue cash value, and are fixed over an extended period of time – usually one to 0 years, and they can be renewed. This life insurance policy pays the beneficiary of your policy a fixed amount in the even that you die in the period of time that your policy includes. The premiums of term life insurance are lowest when you are young and increase as you get older

Whole Life Insurance

This type of life insurance is similar to term life insurance, as well as provides cash value. Over time, whole life insurance generally builds up a cash value on a tax-deferred basis, and some even pay it’s policy holders a dividend. This type of life insurance is popular, doe to the cash value that is accessible to you or your beneficiaries before you die. Used to supplement retirement funds, or to pay for your child’s education, whole life insurance should be used for protection, rather than for accumulation.

Universal Life Insurance

This type of life insurance is a flexible kind of plan. These policies accrue interest and allow the owner to adjust the death benefits and premiums to their current life situation. You decide the amount of premium for universal life insurance, and of you skip a payment, this will be deducted from your death benefit. Universal life insurance stays in effect as long as your cash value can cover the costs of the policy. These rates are subject to change, but they can never fall below the minimum rate that is guaranteed when you sign up for universal life insurance.

Variable Life Insurance

This type of life insurance is designed for people who want to tie the performance of their life insurance policy to that of the financial market. The policy holder gets to decide how the money should be invested, and your cash value has the opportunity to grow more rapidly. However, if the market is poor, your life insurance policy’s death benefit will be poor. As with whole life insurance and universal life insurance, you may withdraw against the cash value. Be reminded that withdrawals of this life insurance policy will be deducted from the cash value.

How Can I Save Money With Life Insurance

Below you will find some suggestions on ways to save money while purchasing the life insurance policy that is right for you.

1) If you don’t need life insurance, don’t buy it. Don’t buy more insurance that you actually need in order to provide financial security for your family.

2) Shop around for competitively-priced life insurance policies while you are healthy. Don’t smoke, or do anything that might increase your rates. Take care of yourself by exercising regularly and maintaining a moderate and healthy weight.

3) If you purchase a term life insurance policy, look for guaranteed and renewable policies. That way you won’t have to periodically continue to shop around for those life insurance policies.

4) You should only buy optional forms of coverage such as riders only if necessary.

5) Shop around and compare life insurance policy rates and coverage. There are thousands of life insurance companies to choose from. It is advised that you get at least three separate quotations of life insurance, and then decide which is the best for you.

There are several ways to look for affordable small business health insurance. You can begin by contacting local health insurance agencies and comparing prices, or meeting with agents from different health insurance companies to see what kinds of plans they offer. A more efficient and time-effective way to search for something affordable would be to conduct a search on the internet. Several websites offer direct quote comparisons between the leading health insurance companies, and you can narrow your search by using keywords that are specific to the kinds of insurance you need.

Before you begin to search, you need to assess your company’s insurance needs. Look into the difference between PPO and HMO systems, and do a little research into what kind of coverage your employees might prefer. It’s also a good idea to check the tax requirements and benefits you’ll receive as a business owner when you offer certain types of health insurance for your employees.

Almost every health insurance provider you visit will probably claim that they have affordable small business health insurance. The affordability of a plan really depends on how it meets the needs of your business, though. Shop around to find a plan that offers coverage that fits the age and health of your employees. Being under-insured is worse than having no insurance at all because you are paying for the health insurance that isn’t doing you any good.

Once you’ve narrowed your health insurance companies down to two or three favorites, spend some time getting to know the agencies a little better. Make an appointment with an agent from each firm and explain exactly what your company needs. You may discover that the agent can offer you a better deal than you could find through a basic web search. Affordable small business health insurance can be found with a little research and perseverance.

Health insurance is a secure cover that gives us a peaceful sleep at night. The inflation has spared none and families are struggling to make ends meet. Speak about families in which students want to study abroad and you will know what a boon international student health insurance actually is!

International student health insurance offers an assurance that can help you pursue your dreams with confidence even in countries you have never been to before. If you want to enjoy and experience this kind of confidence, there are some points you need to consider before finalizing on the international student health insurance plan of your choice:

Point 1: What Does the Plan Cover?

Ask this question over and over again before opting for the international student health insurance plan. Make sure you have a complete understanding of all the exclusions as per the insurance plan. If you do not get this clear at the upfront, you will be left in trouble when you make the claims as many expenses will have to be borne by you. Fighting with the insurance company then will not be of much help.

Point 2: What Rating does it Carry?

Most of the international student health insurance plans come with a certain rating of best or poor and so on. Find out what rating your insurance plan has. Some countries will refuse to accept insurances which have a low rating. Investing in such an insurance plan should be avoided in the first place.

Point 3: Easy to Reach?

This is something you should give special preference to while thinking of the international student health insurance. Find out if the insurance company is there for your help 24/7. In an unknown country you would want help at your fingertips. Find out if there is a toll free number that you can easily reach them at. If not inquire about the quickest means of communicating with the company for any services or inquiries.

Point 4: Methods to Make Claim

There are different schemes to claim for the hospital expenses. It could be the cashless method where you will not have to shell out any money from your pocket and the insurance company will only have to be intimated beforehand so they can pay the bills. Another method is wherein you pay for all the medical expenses and late claim the same from the insurance company. The cashless scheme is most favored and easy.

Point 5: Part of the Network?

Usually student international travel health insurance will cover a network of hospitals from among which you can settle on one for your treatment. Just ensure that your insurance plan covers such a network of hospitals. This will give you more flexibility and options while making your choice.

On the whole, international student medical insurance is an assurance that will help the student study abroad without getting entangled with too many bills to settle due to medical emergencies.

When purchasing a home, your mind is probably filled with the details of the mortgage and the move. What kind of homeowners insurance you’re receiving may be the last thing on your mind, but here’s why it shouldn’t be. Types and amounts of coverage vary considerably from policy to policy and company to company. Imagine how desperate you would be in the case of a total loss of your home, and you can begin to understand how important this choice is. You should never lose sight of the fact that it is your decision, and an important one to protect your number one asset.

You need to know how the homeowners insurance company will determine the value of your home, what is covered including the property in the home, and the level of liability coverage for damage accidentally caused to your home or someone else’s property. How much would it cost to replace your belongings contained in the home? These and other questions should take center stage when selecting a home insurance policy.

The homeowners insurance company may determine the worth of your home several ways. Be sure you know which method they will use and how it could affect the amount you would receive in case of a total loss. The worth of your home can be expressed as both replacement cost and actual cash value. Replacement cost expresses the expense to rebuild or buy a comparable home and comparable items to those that were lost. Actual cash value expresses what the home and the items themselves are worth.

This is more potentially problematic for items such as clothing, as apparel can lose nearly 100% of its value immediately after purchase.

The second consideration has to do with whether the insurer plans to value your home at the time of policy or at the time of loss. You should consider this carefully, because appreciation of homes varies greatly from region to region and year to year. You will also want to consider how long you plan to live in the home and hold the policy. If you expect your home’s value to stay at about the same level or go down before you move out or change your coverage, you’ll want to have your coverage based on the value at the time of the policy.

If you expect the value to increase rapidly and remain high until you move out or restructure your coverage, then a valuation at the time of loss will suit you better. Your insurer may or may not offer more than one option for valuing your home, but you can shop around and find an insurer who will value using the method you desire.

Do you need extended coverage? You should know how much coverage your basic homeowners insurance includes for items in your home. If you have jewelry, expensive electronics, silver, or other things of high value, ask yourself if your coverage would replace these items as well as all your other belongings. If not, you may be wise to purchase extended coverage to cover the most valuable items.

How much should be allotted for accidental damage to your home or to someone else’s property? Your insurance agent can give you some insight, but ultimately the choice is up to you. This is one of the more overlooked, but equally important, parts of your homeowners insurance policy.

You can discuss your options with your insurance agent, a financial planner, and even friends and family, but be sure in the end that you’re making the decision that is best for you. It is your home, after all, and home insurance offers you the peace of mind you should demand when making such a large investment.

Buying auto insurance can seems to be a complicated business and often fills even seasoned insurance veterans with a mild sense of foreboding and trepidation. First-time buyer need not worry, however, as the process need not be nearly as complicated as it might first appear. As with many things, the point point to make is do plenty of research. Think about exactly what you need from your policy and what you are looking for. Don’t be sweet-talked into buying more cover than you might actually need, thereby costing you unnecessarily.

Remember that each policy is different and offers different levels of coverage. Some stipulations are mandatory, depending on where you live, whilst some are optional. Common stipulations on a policy might include Comprehensive Coverage, which would insure you for damage done to your vehicle by factors other than a collision. These can include theft, fire, vandalism and adverse weather.

Also, Bodily and Property Liability Coverage are common, as these cover costs that you will be legally responsible for in case of bodily injury, death or property or vehicle damage to another person in case of an accident caused by you whilst driving. This is just a small snapshot, and remember that, even as a first-time buyer, going for the bare minimum of coverage may not be the best thing for you. Be sure to fully compare each quote and what it offers and decide whether you need all of the protection on offer. Remember also that adding option coverage often costs no more than a few dollar per month.

Think seriously as well about a factor known on a policy as the ‘Deductible’. The deductible is what you agree to pay before your insurance company begins to cove the cost of other losses. This is common especially when you choose Collision or Comprehensive insurance coverage. In general, if you choose a higher level of deductible, you will pay a lower premium.

If you have yet to buy your car and are busily weighing up all of the available options (and perhaps dreams), be mindful that the make and model of car you buy will have an impact on your insurance premium. A young, first-time buyer with a powerful sports car will pay excessively for their insurance premiums, especially as they also tend to be younger.

Many might be tempted to skip coverage altogether-especially money-conscious students away at college. The answer to this is simple: Don’t! If you are caught doing so, quite apart from any other immediate legal ramifications, you will likely be hit with huge insurance premiums for decades to come. You can also try searching online for the latest information on providers and rates in your area that can help you out rather than take risks – doing so is highly recommended.

The most expensive car insurance that you can ever buy in the United States is when you’re young. So what steps can you take when your teen becomes a driver? You could be paying a lot of money when your child is on your policy so the first step in saving money is to keep the child off your policy as long as you possibly can. That might mean to keep him on a learners permit for as long as the law allows, because some insurers do not require coverage on a permit driver. Secondly, give older cars to the younger drivers.

Why, because the premiums on older cars are less expensive. Try to get your child covered on the least expensive car in the household and check insurance policies prices before you buy any car. Usually a teenager wants a fully modified and a fancy car, however a lot of people do not realize that theft is a big part of their insurance premium, and the latest convertible cars that these kids want is at a greater chance of being stolen than some ordinary car. Just because it is a great car doesn’t mean it’s going to be there when you wake up in the morning. So the more expensive and eye catching car is, the more will be the premium on your auto insurance policy.

Another thing that could help is to ask for discounts. You could get discounts for being a good driver. Otherwise, accidents can greatly increase your premiums or your insurance company could even cancel your policy at your next renewal. Also, avoid traffic tickets since these can increase your premiums for up to 3 years.
And let’s not forget a child with good grades. The ‘good student’ discount is about 10 percent, which saves tremendously on the premiums. A student with a grade point average of 3.0 or above is generally considered to be a “good student.”

One last thing, honesty will get you the best policy. Don’t forget to get your child auto insurance when they do reach the driving age, otherwise if they drive and do have an accident your policy could be voided or much worse! Also be sure to check out the latest offerings available to you online at various specialized insurance websites that can help you find the best deals in your local area that can provide you with the greatest discounts and help you save the most money each month.
